So I finally got my hands on this already legendary lens, its a thing of beauty. The design is simple and professional, it looks like it was built to do a job and boy does it do a job!
I had to test it out right away as I had been waiting so long to get it. I will be using it with my Nikon D800, from all I have read it should be an awesome combination.
So my first shots with this Sigma Art lens... I have to say that the 50mm is my preferred choice of focal length, a lot of people will say its boring, but I just love it, very rarely will I use another lens, so I like to get the best!
I have come from using the Canon 50mm 1.2 but recently change systems (I don't regret it) Ergonomically this Sigma 50mm is bigger than the Canon, its longer so can feel a little less balanced, I have to say I prefer the size and stubbiness of the canon. I use manual focus all the time on my images, this lens delivers for me, a nice smooth action very easy to micro adjust on the fly. Very impressed with how it handles.
Well lets have a look at my first image with this lens.
I am very lucky to have a beautiful wife and a pool in the garden to create this lovely test image.
So what do I notice: SHARP! Wow, its super sharp, so much more so than the canon 50mm f1.2 this lens is amazing, I am sold! (well I already bought it so that obvious) I am not going to get it to all this Bokeh comparison but from what I have seen its perfectly acceptable! I love it..
I recommend this lens, it's as it name says a work of Art! I cant wait to create more with it.
